German revolutionary broadsides, 1848-1849.

Broadsides collected by A.D. White on the national movement and revolutions in the German states, documenting the movement toward national unity and democracy there during the 1848 revolution, aka "the Spring of Nations." Most flyers, newspapers and pamphlets were produced in Berlin and are about the national-democratic movement in Prussia; the rest are related to the first German National Assembly, which opened its session in St. Paul's Church in Frankfurt in May 1848; finally, a few items concern the case of "Greater Poland" or the Polish uprising against Prussian forces. Some documents are illustrated with caricatures.
