J. D. Sprake military diary, 1863-1865.

Typewritten copy of military diary, March 1, 1863-February 13, 1865, kept by J. D. Sprake, private in Co. A, 8th Kentucky Cavalry Regiment, CSA, commanded by Col. Roy S. Cluke and Gen. John Hunt Morgan. Details service in Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee, as well as on Morgan's Great Raid in July 1863, which resulted in Sprake's capture in Ohio. Sprake records prison life at Indianapolis's Camp Morton and Chicago's Camp Douglas, where he remained until Feb. 13, 1865.
