H. D. D. Twiggs diaries, 1883-1888.

The collection consists of six annual diaries. The 1883 diary only includes January through March. The other five diaries are completely full. Some of the events covered in the diaries of H. D. D. Twiggs include escorting the first lady of Georgia during the inauguration of the Governor in 1888 and meetings with Rutherford Hayes, Grover Cleveland, and Alexander Stephens. Some other entries describe his travels to the Northeast and Midwest, as well as Virginia and Washington, D.C. He writes of viewing Grant's funeral and seeing John L. Sullivan get his championship belt in Boston. He also gives detail about the Charleston Earthquake in 1886 and how it affected Georgia. He also describes many of the cases that he is involved in.
