Letters, 1836-1839.

Collection consists chiefly of letters Micah Sterling had received from Francis B. Winthrop of New Haven, Connecticut. The letters clearly indicate they were personal friends, which most likely stems from the fact they were both graduates of Yale College class of 1804. The content of these letters generally regards news about friends and family as well discussing politics and other interests. The collection also includes a letter of John Sterling to his sister, Emma Sterling, which was postmarked from New Haven, Connecticut. The content of this letter tends to suggest that John was attending Yale College at the time. He also mentioned being a guest at the home of Francis Winthrop.
