Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796) was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is regarded as a pioneer of the Romantic movement, and after his death he became a great source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and socialism, and a cultural icon in Scotland and among the Scottish diaspora around the world. Donaldson, Alexander Mitchell, 1891-1961

Alexander Donaldson was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but emigrated to Canada in 1909 where he worked as an auditor for the Ford Motor Company. During World War II he served as an investigator for the War-Time Prices and Trade Board. From 1954 to 1961 he worked at the Vancouver Public Library.
