Account books, 1800-1841.

The collection consists of three account books of the Westchester Turnpike Road Company. Two of the volumes, a ledger and a daybook (1800-1805), were kept by Peter Jay Munro, treasurer of the Company. These same two volumes were later (1839-1841) used by Henry Munro to keep the accounts of his farm. Another volume (1814-1828) records the accounts of [Jno. Bonnet, Jr.] and Matson Smith with the Company. In this volume, the first page records the entries for Bonnet, and the remainder of the 47 pages record the accounts of Smith. Most of these entries are for receipts from tolls.
