Josephine Harreld Love collection, 1912-1978.

The collection contains one issue of the newspaper, The Georgia broadaxe, May 11, 1912, vol. III, no. 13; one black and white 8" x 10" photograph of the home of Dr. Edgar and Mrs. Lizzie Bowden; and eight plaques of various sizes nailed onto a 21" x 23 1/2" wooden board, which were presented to Mr. F.G. Mattox between 1966 and 1978 for "Outstanding Dedication and Service to Youths."

Josephine Harreld Love, born December 11, 1914 in Atlanta of mixed black, white and Native American parentage, studied and was active in the fine arts from an early age. She received a B.A. in English from Spelman College, a diploma in piano from Juilliard School of Music, and a M.A. in musicology from Radcliffe College.
