Tonkin Gulf collection, 1962-1984.

The bulk of the Tonkin Gulf Collection comprises historical materials culled from various official records collections held in the Operational Archives Branch. Staff in the Operational Archives Branch created this collection in response to the 1967-1968 requests for documentation relating to the Gulf of Tonkin Incidents of August 1964 by Senator J.W. Fulbright, Chairman, Committee on Foreign Relations. After 1968, items were added from time to time as they came to the attention of the staff. Much of this collection consists of photocopies of materials contained in other collections held by the Operational Archives.
