New Jersey lawyer, politician, and diplomat. In 1838 he was elected to Congress, but because of irregularities in the returns, he and several other winning candidates were not confirmed. Pierson M. Walton enlisted as a Private on June 3, 1861, becoming a member of the "H" Company of the New Jersey 1st Infantry. There he served first as a Corporal, then as a Sergeant, and finally as a 1st Sergeant, until he was discharged at Trenton, New Jersey on June 23, 1864. Peter D.
