Collection on William Grant Still, 1983-1984.

The group of documents forms a component part of the Department of Special Collections' African American History Collection. The collection contains material discussing Still's career and performances of his work. Items in the collection include the Feb. 1984 issue of Music Educators Journal (includes an article on his career); pamphlet announcing the 1984 Still Festival at the University of Arkansas; a document containing a biographical sketch, list of compositions, publishers, and discography; photocopy of the letters (to editor) page from High Fidelity magazine; photocopy of Paul Ditzel's "Classical Notes: column for the Feb. 1984 issue of Westways Magazine; photocopy of a review of the North Arkansas Symphony Orchestra's 1984 performance of Still's Symphony #3; and a photocopy of a clipping from the November 6, 1983 Sunday Oregonian on Still's life.
