Jorge Huerta papers, 1964-2008.

The Jorge Huerta Papers contain materials documenting his activities as a director, writer, professor, and expert on Chicano theatre. The papers include meeting minutes and program information from various committees and organizations, typescript drafts of articles and essays, and performance notes and script drafts from plays directed by Huerta. The majority of the collection is made up of materials from numerous Latino Theatre projects in Southern California.

Jorge Alfonso Huerta was born in Southern California on November 20, 1942. He attended California State University, Los Angeles, earning his degree in 1965. Huerta went on to earn his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1974, becoming the first Chicano nationwide to receive his Ph.D. in theatre.
