This collection consists of two (2) e-mails sent by Sean Cassedy to his sister, Heather Johnston, prior to being deployed to Iraq and six (6) e-mails by Heather Johnston discussing with co-workers Sean's status in Iraq. The collection also contains several newspapers that report on Sean's homecoming from Iraq.

Sean Cassedy was born and reared in Bagdad, Kentucky, and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2001. Sean Cassedy served in the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force during the first days of Operation Iraqi Freedom and participated in the initial invasion. Sean was wounded in the leg on April 4, 2003 outside of Baghdad. He returned to Shelbyville, Kentucky on April 23, 2003 to a hero's welcome. From the description of Sean Cassedy collection, 2003.
