Scrapbook [microform], 1906-1942.

Scrapbook of the Pen and Pencil Club of Columbus, Ohio, a professional and social club formed in 1897 by artists, contains clippings, photographs, and original drwings documenting activities of the club and its members, including artist George Bellows. The scrapbook was dismantled for microfilming, with contents removed to MSS 872 AV and OVS 1214-1223, 1263 collections in the Ohio Historical Society.

Bellows, George, 1882-1925

George Wesley Bellows was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1882. He attended Ohio State University, leaving in 1903 for New York where he enrolled at William Chase's New York School of Art under the instruction of Robert Henri. He became Associate Member of the National Academy in 1908 and Academician in 1918. In 1910 he married a fellow student at the school, Emma Story.
