Scrapbook (Burlington, N.J.) 1835.

This hard cover scrapbook entitled, A Collection of Romantic Poetry and Prose, 1835, contains handwritten copies of ten of the first twelve issues of the Burlington Starry Journal (February-October 1835), and one copy of La Pileine Lune or the Mysterious Visitor (April 1835). These two weekly papers contain both poetry and prose, along with letters to the editor and other continuing columns. Of particular interest is the singular copy of The Mysterious Visitor, which is most likely a copy of The Rural Visitor, a short lived literary journal produced in Burlington in 1835 by Joseph L. Powell. Mr. Powell was also the publisher of The Burlington Gazette.
