Unsigned map of North America highlighting the theoretical presence of a northwestern sea emptying into the Pacific Ocean; includes the legendary city of Quivira. Accompanies ms. copy of a 17 p. memoir by Guillaume de L'Isle: Conjectures sur l'existence d'une mer dans la partie occidentale du Canada et du Mississipi; cites the work of Pierre Charles Le Sueur and Louis de la Porte de Louvigny. Forms part of a collection of French transcripts variously dated 1702-1750: Memoranda on French colonies in America, including Canada, Louisiana, and the Carribean (Ayer MS 293 v. 2 p. 133).
