Contains handwritten transcript made by E.F. Murray of a Felipe Arroyo de la Cuesta comparative linguistic glossary of 10 native Calif. languages to Spanish, originally taken from 4 informants in Jan. of 1821. The languages listed as: from the natives at San Luis Ray (Luiseño), Santa Barbara (Chumash), San Luis Obispo (Chumash), San Antonio and San Miguel (Salinan), and the tribes Juichun (Ohlone), Karkin (Ohlone), Sachan (Miwok), Uhimen (Miwok), Nopthrinthres (Yokuts) and Suisun (Wintun). The informants were Celso Tolecse, Chrispo Johuocsiu, Samuel Capita and Andres Colopkel. Also includes a letter by E.F. Murray about the transcription, a note by Alfred L. Kroeber about possible publication of the glossary, and annotations on transcript made by Kroeber.

Fray Felipe Arroyo de la Cuesta was a missionary in Calif. with most of his time spent at San Juan Bautista from 1808 to 1832.
