Minerva (Ship) logbook, 1800.

The logbook of the ship Minerva details part of a sealing voyage, May-Sept. 1800; the bulk of the voyage took place aboard the ship Concord (Oct. 1799-May 1800, Sept. 1800-Mar. 1802). The ship's home port was Salem, Mass.; the owners were Nathaniel West and Timothy Williams; the master was Mayhew Folger; the logbook keeper was Nathaniel Appleton. The logbook includes references to seafaring life and indigenous peoples, as well as a description of Pisco, Peru. During its voyage, the Minerva spoke the ships Barclay (out of New Bedford) and Onida (out of Conn.) and the vessel (of unknown rigging) Belle Savage (out of Boston).
