Series 179 of record group 58-17 consists of a survey (ca. 1871-1877) of the L'Anse Bay and State Line Road, originally collected by the Michigan Lands Division. Rolled maps documents the area from Portage Lake to Otter Lake (Houghton County), from Brule River (Wisconsin/Michigan border in east part of Iron County) to Keweenaw Bay, near L'Anse, Michigan (Baraga County). Maps indicate physical features such as trees, rivers, lakes, etc. Also includes a folder of maps (tracing, single sheets) documenting the same area covered by rolled maps. The rolled, linen maps are 18 1/2" x 63", and 18 1/2" x 107 1/2" in size.
