This series comprises records kept by Dr. Ross E. Paulson in his capacity as a member of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) Board of World Missions (BWM) from 1966-1972. The records are from 1962-1972, with the majority of them dating from 1966-1972. Records include typewritten and handwritten correspondence, handwritten annotative notes taken at meetings, exhibits for general BWM meetings, agenda for Executive Committee meetings, reports, studies and position papers pertaining to BWM mission work and the study of missions in general, and general reference material pertaining to geographic regions in which the LCA conducted mission work. Subject matter includes long-range planning for the Lutheran Church Malaysia-Singapore, BWM planning issues raised during a meeting with the LCA Board of Social Missions; issues pertaining to general administration of the BWM that were addressed by the board's Executive Committee; issues related to mission work conducted by the BWM and its counterpart in The American Lutheran Church, the Division of World Missions; overseas education issues; medical mission work; and general budgeting and planning issues. BWM meeting exhibits in this series do not represent every board meeting that took place during Dr. Paulson's tenure on the board.
