The Esty manuscript of the elegy for Isabella M'Leod's brother, and the only manuscript text to include the qualification " & whose family had for some time suffered a train of misfortunes"; the manuscript is collated by James Kinsley in his 3-vol. edition of The Songs and poems of Robert Burns (Oxford University Press, Oxford, Eng., 1968, no. 162); cf. also notes, III, 1241; poem consists of 28 lines, 7 stanzas, 2 pages on the recto & verso of 1 quarto leaf.
