Minutes of a meeting : manuscript copy, 1776.

Autograph document. Consists of a true copy from the minutes of the Committee of Safety (1776 Apr. 19) and a true copy of the extracts of the minutes of the "Hono'ble Continental Congress (1776 Mar. 21). Both copies are signed by John McKesson, Secretary to the provisional Congress of New York. Because of commercial restraints imposed by the Parliament of Great Britain, documents recommend the promotion of "the culture of hemp, flax and cotton, and the growth of wool, in these United Colonies."
