Archibald Allison papers, 1882-1931 [manuscript].

Collection contains correspondence, diaries, letter book, journal, newspaper clippings, legal documents, memorabilia, photographs documenting his work for the Borneo Company and at the Tegora Mines in Sarawak; pamphlets by Allison on the corruption of the mining company; later diaries (1904-1924) include numerous entries about the conditions in the mines in Trinidad (Colo.) and Walsenburg (Colo.).

Born in Scotland, ca.1855. Traveled to Sarawak, Malaysia in 1882 where he worked for the Central Borneo Mining Company. Allison was sued for defamation as a result of pamphlets he wrote about mining conditions and company corruption (1898). Came to the U.S. ca. 1903-1904. Moved to Colo. and worked in the Robinson Mine in Walsenberg. Active in the United Mine Workers. Died in Walsenburg, October 28, 1926.
