[Letter] 1835 July 4, Pittsfield, [Mass.] : [to] Julius Rockwell, Pittsfield / [from] Jon'n Allen.

Rockwell served as secretary of the Berkshire Agricultural Society, and Allen writes that he wishes to enter his kitchen garden for a premium and also his two acres of corn. In a postscript he says "also mulberry trees, silk worms & silk." Accompanied by a report of an address given by Prof. Mark Hopkins of Williams College to the Society in 1835, and a notice of a meeting of the Society to be held Jan. 7, 1902, sent to F.W. Rockwell. These items were found loose in a bound volume (now in the Museum library) of printed addresses, transactions of annual meetings and essays (1820-1882) of the Berkshire Agricultural Society collected by Frank W. Rockwell. Also tipped into that volume are several letters, 1882-1883, to Rockwell in reply to his requests for copies of various speeches given.
