Part of a group of negatives taken for October 30, 1957, Arkansas Gazette article "Historic Cemetery to Get Facelifting," B1:3. In 1957, the Chamber of Commerce in Camden planned to restore the Confederate Cemetery in Camden, Ouachita County, Arkansas. Several people, including Bill Sheltori, manager of the Chamber of Commerce, and Ruth Malone, a Camden writer, looked over the tall marble shaft and seven rows of headstones which mark the Confederate Cemetery in Camden (1966.09, 1966.10). In 1939, a marker was erected in the cemetery by the Liberty Baptist Association in memory of Rev. Porter Clay, who established a church in Camden and was the younger brother of Henry Clay (1966.01, 1966.03).
