Records of the State Prison of Southern Michigan, 1878-1900.

Series 6 and 7 of Record Group 56-27 consist of two ledgers relating to the Michigan State Prison. The first is the ledger of engineer George P. Maloney for the years 1885-87. The second ledger is of engineer Chas. H. Eckliff for the years 1887-89. Both ledgers pertain to expenditures for equipment and supplies; sales; transfers; requisitions; and maintenance and repair of the buildings and facilities located within the prison. One sheet also includes the number, name, date of escape and return of convicts from January 1, 1878 to June 1, 1900.
