Hugh Morton photographs and films: Nature and scenic, 1930s-early 2000s (bulk 1940s-1990s) (Series 3).

Series 3 consists of approximately 26,500 images of nature and scenery, primarily in North Carolina, including landscapes, plant and animal life, rural scenes, and images relating to Morton's activist work regarding air pollution. The images in Nature and Scenic date from the late 1930s through the early 2000s, with the bulk from the 1940s through the 1990s. Where image dates are unknown (as in many cases), a date range has been estimated based on film type and subject matter. Exact locations for the images in Series 3 are largely unknown, although many were likely taken on or around Grandfather Mountain, N.C. Scenic views that are either identified as Grandfather Mountain or obviously show the Mountain (and those obviously taken on or from the Mountain) are included in Series 4 (Grandfather Mountain). Some additional scenic views of identified North Carolina locations are included in Series 1 (North Carolina Places).
