Mrs. Pease travel diary, 1914.

Travel diary compiled by Mrs. Pease, who traveled with family members Curtis and Elo on the steamer Martha Washington from Boston across the Atlantic to Europe from 11 December 1913 through March 1914. The typescript was apparently compiled from her letters home, and includes hand written annotations in the margins. Her descriptions of shipboard life and their experiences in Europe--they visitied Algiers, Greece, Italy, Germany, and Belgium--are colorful and well written. They sailed through the Mediterranean to Algiers, Greece (Corinth, Athens, Corfu), Italy (Naples, Sicily, Rome, Pisa, Venice, Florence, Milan), Germany (Munich, Nuremberg, Bingen, Cologne) and Belgium (Brussels, Bruges). They visited museums, gardens, and the usual sights, with excellent descriptions of these and the scenery and people they met.

73 p. : typescript.
