The Penn State Glee Club was founded in 1888 under the leadership of Dr. George C. Butz. The ensemble was originally known as the Penn State Glee Club and Banjo and Mandolin Society and performed choral music that reflected the styles and tastes of the time. The club has since evolved as a men's choir specializing in music from the 16th through 20th centuries, their repertoire including both sacred and secular compositions.
