Series 1 of record group RG 81-9 consists of the original federal surveyor's plats for the years 1815-1953. Copies of maps still kept by the Lands Division that were originally prepared by federal surveyors subdividing the state into townships, ranges, and sections. Each sheet shows, where appropriate, soil and vegetation type, surface geology, topography, cultural features, names of surveyors, and date work completed. Includes accompanying index.
