Autograph manuscript score of an unpublished sonata for viola solo, dated "New-York -- Chicago, April [19]37," together with a manuscript letter from Hindemith to Professor Oliver Strunk, dated April 22, 1937, with a drawing by Hindemith with a pseudo-Latin inscription saying that although the composer thought well of the sonata it failed to please the public.
