Frank Albert Root was born 3 July 1837 in Binghampton, New York. He left northeastern Pennsylvania in 1857, joining thousands of other pioneers moving to Kansas territory. Librarian, historian, genealogist; of Topeka, Kan. Zu, short for Abzuga, was the eldest daughter of Franklin G. and Harriet Clark Adams.
