William H. Gass collection, 1961-1985.

Collection of American author, William H. Gass, consists of 6 typescript letters and 2 published poems written by Gass. The letters of Gass were written, 1961-1963, to American editor and author, Seymour Lawrence. Subjects of the letters include Gass's writings, his application for a Guggenheim grant, and his admiration for author, Katherine Anne Porter. The two poems in the collection were published in limited and numbered editions. The first is titled "Mad Meg in the Maelstrom," published in 1976 and the second is titled "On Place," published in 1985.
