Contains the following types of materials: photographs, photo albums. Covers the following wars: World War II (WWII), Korean War. Contains photographs of the 557th Quartermaster Aerial Supply Company. General description of the collection: The George J. Richards photograph collection consists of a few photos of his West Point years, but the majority of this collection focuses on his late WWII and post war service. Most deal with various trips General Richards took with the Congressional Subcommittee on Military Appropriations to the Pacific areas and with the Senate Appropriations Committee to Europe. Many of these photos are of the "sight seeing" variety in such places as India, Egypt, Fiji Islands, Iran, Austria, Israel and Philippines. There are a grouping of photos demonstrating parachute dropping of supplies from cargo airplanes during the Korean War by the 557th Quartermaster Aerial Supply Company, and there are photos of General Richards' tenure as Chief of MAAG-France including ceremonies, parades, social affairs and the receipt by France of military material. A small collection pertains to Richards' early days with the Corps of Engineers with five photos dealing with the operation of a concrete revetment plant in 1922-1923. Another large grouping are of French Army maneuvers in North Africa in 1951.
