William Bigler, Clearfield, letter to Thomas Burnside, 1848 July 15.

William Bigler writes to Thomas Burnside asking for his assistance in Northumberland, Pa. in being nominated for governor. He notes that he will have friends at the convention ready to place his name in nomination. Bigler tells him "I owe much of my present political prominence to you and your son Col. Burnside; I shall never be unmindful of this fact or ungreatful [sic] for your kindness."
