Noting that he will be reading in Cheltenham on 3-4 January, and would like to dine with Macready on the second. Discussing the death of Arthur Smith, noting that it has caused Dickens "great distress and anxiety." With a postscript noting "Fourth Edition of Great Expectations, almost gone!"
