James Baldwin letter, Istanbul, Turkey, to Kay Boyle, Middletown, Connecticut, 1963 April 8.

Baldwin writers to author Kay Boyle (while she is on a fellowship at Wesleyan University) regretting that he can't meet her on 1 May in Philadelphia since that is the date of his arrival in the U.S., and asks for an alternative date. He notes that he'll be doing a ten-day benefit lecture tour for CORE beginning in Denver on 4 May. He's completed "an act and a half of the play on paper" [Blues for Mister Charlie]. He plans to spend half the year writing in his Paris apartment and the other half in a New York apartment.
