Vera Facey was born on June 6, 1909 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She graduated from Pictou Academy in Nova Scotia in 1928 with highest honors, for which she was presented the Governor General's medal. She taught in Canadian public schools for several years before completing her B.S. degree at King's College, Dalhousie University in 1936. She obtained M.A. and Ph.
