[Letter] 1859 Oct. 18, Charlottesville [Va.] to [John Albert Broadus] / A.P. Abell. 1859.

Concerning Broadus's successor as pastor of the Charlottesville Baptist Church: "Elder [Abram Burwell] Brown was called by a very decided vote on the first ballot. It would have been unanimous but that our Bro. J.H.B. got a fancy that he would oppose it and circulated, largely, a representation of a difficulty between Brown and his [or this] church and diverted some small number towards [A.J.] Huntingdon with a further idea that Dr. Sampson [i.e. G.W. Samson] would like to take the place ... [John] Hart agrees to be licensed."
