Contains photographs of the following military units and organizations: United States (U.S.) Army Corps of Engineers. General description of the collection: The Chester A. Rowland photograph collection came to us primarily as a group of unprinted negatives, manyof them being dated, but with little other caption material. The coverage begins at the time he entered the Army in 1917 as an enlisted engineer soldier. There are several photos of him in uniform during WWI. He is also then pictured as a cadet at Louisiana State University in 1922. He is next shown with his young family as an engineer officer in 1925. Photos of he and his family then continue up to 1940. Other subjects of interest are views taken while passing through the Panama Canal in 1936 and the constructing of quarters at Selfridge Field Michigan in 1940. There are also some excellent views inside their quarters at Christmas time circa 1940.
