General description of the collection: The World War II Signal Corps photograph collection is a mamouth collection covering every major aspect of the United States (U.S.) involvement in WWII, including light coverage of the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps, also the home front, war production, governmental agencies, relief agencies, etc. The photos are arranged by unit, geographical location and by the photo subject, such as transportation, medical, quartermaster, amusements or war crimes. The units are arranged by division with each sub unit field with its division. All non-divisional units are filed numerically by branch. Geographical location photos are filed alphabetically by country and city, town or village. The subject photos are filed by branch subjects, with equipment, etc., broken down by type. Non-branch subjects are filed under appropriate headings, such as amusements, animals, art, and destruction. Some of the photos pre-date the war by several years, and quite a few are of the U.S. Army in occupation duty in Europe or Asia between 1945 and 1950. The majority of the photos date between 1941 and 1945.
