This record group consists of four sets of records relating to the Michigan military establishment. The first set of records are the proceedings heard before a sub-committee investigating the labor strike in copper mines in 1913 (1914). Includes carbon copies of proceedings of the 13th, 14th, and 15th days of testimony, reporting activities and incidents involving miners, mine operators and the Michigan National Guard in the strike. The second set of records are relating to the Michigan National Guard's organizational history (1943-1945) and consists of a brief typewritten history of the State Troops, Naval Force, and National Guard prior to World War I, and table of organization of state troops, 1943-1944. The third set of records are reports (1940, 1945) of the statistical and factual history of the Michigan National Guard, and a report by the administrator of the Michigan Council of Defense (1942). The final set of records is the manuscript The Michigan military establishment in the nineteenth century, by Walter W. Colby (1951).
