General description of the collection: William Hallock Braddoct papers include official, personal papers, newspaper clippings and memoir (1946), dealing with service as a surgeon with the Visayas-Mindanao Force from August 1941-May 1942 and his detention in Japanese prison camps. A booklet of poems he wrote while in prison entitled "Life, light, love" is found. Pre-WWII material consists of official papers from duty at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Woods, Wisconsin and documents on the General Charles King Chapter of the Military Order of the World War and clippings on the role of neutral U.S. in early WWII. Some items pertain to service in the British, Serbian and American armies in WWI. Articles by Colonel John L. Kantor, "The Medical Service at the First Army Maneuvers of 1940", and a pamphlet by H. Winnett Orr, an orthopedic surgeon's story of the Great War (1921) are found. Certificates, commissions and other military career personnel information are included.
