Materials collected by Graves in the course of writing a paper for a Duke history class in 1965 on the Speaker Ban controversy (20 items, 1963-1965). The controversy resulted from a North Carolina General Assembly law that banned Communists from speaking on the state's campuses. The collection includes letters responding to Graves' request for information from NC state senators and other politicans, including Jessie Helms and Thad Eure. Also included is Graves' final paper, with notes from Professor Hohner. (01-102).
