Andonijah Bidwell diary, 1745-1746.

Diary of Rev. Adonijah Bidwell kept from 14 April 1745 - 11 Jan. 1746 during King George's War. Bidwell was the chaplain of the Connecticut Fleet (part of the British fleet), under the command of Commodore Peter Warren. His diary describes a military expedition to Cape Breton including the voyage from New London (Conn.) to Cape Breton (N.S.), fighting between English and French forces, and the 1745 Siege of Louisbourg. Additional entries include a drawing of Louisbourg Harbor, a list of the men of war and other ships that participated in the expedition, a list of the prizes taken by Commodore Warren's fleet, and a day-by-day account of the number of English soldiers killed.
