Return voyage of ship Explorer from Midway Islands. [1942]

Letter reports the return voyage of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey's ship Explorer from sounding operation in the vincinity of the shoal east of Midway Islands to Honolulu, Hawaii and then in covoy to San Francisco, and farther to Oregon and Seattle, at the time and shortly after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.
