John is writting about Markham. Their is no name to whom he is writing to other than friend and counsellor. He is unable to he Markham speak. He has plans at the Met to hear Gadski but wants an invitation again to hear Mr. M.. He praises the music of Gadski. He met Bert Bradley and liked him. He praises Mr. M's work.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
