Camilla Herdman collection, [ca. 1897]-1944 (bulk 1922-1933).

This collection mainly consists of the scrapbooks and memory books of Camilla Herdman of Bowling Green, Kentucky. The seven books, dated 1922-1933, contain letters, clippings, photographs, and ephemera saved by Camilla while she was in her teens and twenties. Her mother, Lula Gaines Herdman, compiled an eighth scrapbook, dated 1902. Also included are three letters addressed to and written by Lula Gaines (Herdman); an invitation to the 1927 Bowling Green High School commencement, two name cards, a business card, and a postcard written by Walter Herdman to his father, Guy Herdman.

Lula Camilla Herdman was born in 1909 in Tennessee to Guy Hess and Lula Gaines Herdman. The couple also had a younger son named Walter, who eventually became Kentucky's Assistant Attorney General. Camilla graduated from Bowling Green High School (Kentucky) in 1927 and attended Sophia Newcomb College in New Orleans before eventually graduating from the University of Alabama ca. 1933.
