John James Audubon : miscellaneous papers, 1827-1838.

Included are a letter to his wife, Lucy, relating his activities while in England and Scotland, the people he met, his rising popularity as an artist and naturalist, the completion of an oil painting of pheasants; a photostat of a letter to Robert Gilmor forwarding the sixteen numbers of his book, Birds of America; a letter to Richard Harlan describing a seizure which paralyzed his pen hand, mouth and lips, and the gassing of a golden eagle so he could paint it; a letter to Thomas M. Brewer explaining that his illustrations will be completed on June 20th and that the fourth volume will appear shortly afterward.
