Autograph letter signed : London, to Wilkie Collins, 1867 Sept. 18.

Reporting that Frederic Chapman and Dickens met the previous day and discussed the copyrights, in partnership with Smith and Son, of Collins' works, noting that Dickens thinks "nothing could be better for [Collins'] books than that they should fall into Smith's hands." Mentioning that Chapman asked whether he might "except the new story here [The Moonstone], for himself to offer for," and that Dickens replied in the affirmative.
