The collection is organized into six series: correspondence, 1937-1977; scrapbooks, 1937-1963; books and recordings, 1924-1972; photographs and printed materials, 1926-1977; framed and signed photographs and printed materials; memorabilia, 1926-1977. The Correspondence series includes correspondence related to Taylor's chairmanship of the Rensselaer County Republican Committee, to issues of concern in the Congressional district in which he served and the New York State Republican Committee. His correspondents included Thomas E. Dewey, Nelson A. Rockefeller, Richard M. Nixon and many other prominent Republican leaders in New York and the United States. The Scrapbooks include clippings and photographs related to his political and Congressional careers.

Dean Park Taylor was born in 1902 in Troy, New York and died in Albany, New York on October 16, 1977. He received his law degree from Albany Law School (1926), was in private practice and served as First Assistant U.S. District Attorney for the Northern District of New York, was Chairman of the Rensselaer County Republican Committee, 1938-1952 and a leader of its conservative wing, a delegate to various political conventions, a member and chairman of the board of the Union National Bank, 1948-19...
